What a wonderful blessing it’s been to join hands with a small group of like-minded pastors and churches. From the very beginning, AMBER has been fervently committed to praying for a renewal of a high view of Scripture. When the people of God neglect the word of God, it isn’t long before we lose our way.
The priority on cultivating a Bible saturated church culture forms part of the very core of who we are. We believe that the Scriptures are the very lifeblood of the church and are necessary and sufficient to give us a clear and authoritative word from God. A couple of weeks ago we hosted our first conference at First Baptist Church just prior to the CBWC Assembly meetings: The Implanted Word. Our aim was to unpack the four classical attributes of Scripture and then apply them to the life of the church.
Pastor Shaun Martens from First Baptist Calgary delivered a powerful sermon on the Authority of Scripture in our first session. The authority of Scripture is not a doctrine superimposed upon the text but is rather derived from the text itself. We could put that another way by recognizing that the Bible is self-conscious about it’s what it is. The self-attesting authority of Scripture is deeply embedded in the text of Scripture itself.
